The core indicators of asphalt are "temperature" and "gradation". The factory temperature of hot mix asphalt mixture is usually controlled between 140-165 ℃, and it should not be lower than 130 ℃ when transported to the construction site for paving. The temperature is too low, the viscosity of asphalt increases, and it cannot be compacted during paving. The porosity of the road surface exceeds the standard, and loose and potholes will quickly appear after rainwater seeps in. In the on-site teaching of the major repair project of Jinan Weiliu Road viaduct, the technical personnel specifically emphasized the control points of "hot mix asphalt entry temperature" and "mixture insulation transportation". This means that when purchasing asphalt materials, we cannot only consider the quality of the material, but also the transportation distance and insulation capacity of the supplier. The transportation distance is too far and the insulation measures are not in place, so even the best materials will be wasted when they arrive on site.

级配决定了沥青料的“性格”。 沥青混合料是一个大家族，包括沥青混凝土（AC）、沥青碎石（AM）、沥青玛蹄脂碎石（SMA）等多种类型。AC属于密级配，空隙率3%-6%，强度高、耐久性好，是路面面层的主力材料。SMA则加入了纤维稳定剂，抗车辙能力更强，常用于重载交通路段和高速公路。而沥青碎石空隙率大于10%，强度较低，一般不用在路面上面层。采购时首先要搞清“用在哪一层”，面层和基层对材料的要求完全不同。

Grading determines the "character" of asphalt material. Asphalt mixture is a large family that includes various types such as asphalt concrete (AC), asphalt crushed stone (AM), and asphalt mastic crushed stone (SMA). AC belongs to the category of classified materials, with a porosity of 3% -6%, high strength, and good durability, making it the main material for road surface layers. SMA has added fiber stabilizers, which have stronger resistance to rutting and are commonly used in heavy-duty traffic sections and highways. Asphalt gravel with a void ratio greater than 10% has lower strength and generally does not need to be layered on the road surface. When purchasing, the first thing to clarify is' which layer to use ', as the material requirements for the surface and base layers are completely different.

沥青料的质量验证不能只看报告。 供应商提供的检测报告只能证明“送样合格”，不能证明“到场合格”。沥青料从拌合站到工地，温度会下降，级配可能离析。有经验的施工方会在摊铺前用手测温度、观察料的外观——油石比正常的沥青料呈均匀的黑色光泽，如果料发干发暗，说明油量偏低或温度过高导致沥青老化。沥青料是“活”的材料，它从出厂到摊铺的每一个小时都在变化，买料只是开始，管好料的“非常后一程”才是关键。

The quality verification of asphalt materials cannot be solely based on reports. The testing report provided by the supplier can only prove "qualified sample delivery", but cannot prove "qualified on-site". The temperature of asphalt material will decrease from the mixing station to the construction site, and the gradation may segregate. Experienced construction workers will manually measure the temperature and observe the appearance of the material before paving - the asphalt stone has a uniform black luster compared to normal asphalt material. If the material is dry and dark, it indicates that the low oil content or high temperature has caused asphalt aging. Asphalt material is a "living" material that changes every hour from the factory to the paving process. Buying the material is just the beginning, and the "last step" of managing the material is the key.
